Year 1 Class Page
WELCOME TO THE YEAR ONE WEBPAGE!
NEW: PHOTOGRAPHS FROM OUR ENVIRONMENT WALK ARE ON THE GALLERY!
Topics:
Our topic for the Autumn Term is 'Our Bodies' and 'Our Local Area'. We will be reading a range of different poems and inforamtion texts in Literacy lessons and creating our own versions to read in class. The class role play areas will be the 'Post Office' and the 'Post Office from the Past' in Miss Taylor's room and the 'Shop' and the 'shop from the past' in Miss Dobson's room.
In the 'Our Bodies' topic we will be learning about what is special about us and how we are all different from our friends. We will look at our favourite things and make comparisons with each other.
In 'Our Local Area' topic we will be thinking about what life was like in Great Granny's Day. We will learn about the past and make comparisons with now. We will think about our own lifestyles and discover what life was like a long time ago. We will try to answer questions such as 'what toys did great granny play with when she was a liitle girl?' We will look at different household objects from the past and try to guess what they were used for!
We look forward to our trip to Quarry Bank Mill....... more information to follow!
A topic web with more information will be sent home.
Homework Packs:
The children who have signed up for the weekly maths homework packs should remember to return them every Tuesday morning to be changed for a new pack. If your child is enjoying the pack you can keep it for another week.

Mrs Wyper and the children are working with Mrs Crank and the Reception children on a project to achieve a Royal Horticultural Society Gardening Award - so far they have achieved Level 1 - well done!!
