PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL LUNCH ARE ON THE GALLERY!

Topics

Our topic this half term is 'Tell Me A Story'. In lessons we will be reading a range of traditional stories such as 'The Frog Prince', 'The Gingerbread Man', Cinderella', 'The Elves and the Shoe Maker', Jack and the Beanstalk', 'Snow White'  and many more.   To find out more information about what is covered this term, look at the 'Term Overview' in the Reception entrance. A topic web with further information will been sent out to you.

Our class role play areas for this topic are the 'The Giants House' in Miss Whalley's room and the 'The Shoe Shop'  in Mrs Hatton's room. Miss Godfrey and Mrs Crank will work with small groups of children to plan and develop the role play area in the outdoor area.

Events:

The Christmas Fair is on Friday 28th November.

The Open Afternoon for the new intake (2009) will be on Tuesday 2nd December.

The Christmas Play will be on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th December in the afternoon.

The Christmas Parties will be on Thursday 18th December.

The Reception Class will take part in the weekly 'Lets Celebrate' assembly in which children will achieve certificates for good work and good behaviour.

A child with exceptional manners will be chosen each week to eat their lunch at the 'Top Table' with Mrs Worthington Head, and other staff members.

Maths Homework Packs

This is an initiative in which the children take a maths activity pack home each week. The packs are aimed towards your child's particular needs at that time and are fun games for you to play as a family at home. You will be asked to sign a consent form which states that you will pay a fee of £3 if any item goes missing or gets broken. Your child will then be given a pack to bring home and information will be given so that you know when and where to return it each week. (Miss Whalley's Class on Monday and Mrs Hatton's Class on Tuesday. Packs are changed by Mrs Crank and Miss Godfrey and will be collected in each holiday.

The Gardening Gang

Mrs Crank and the children will continue to be busy this half term. They will tidy up the garden after the october break and to prepare our garden for winter. Mrs Crank will work with the children to plan and make garden ornaments to brighten up the outdoor area. We have recently purchased new and exciting garden equipment just for the Reception children - we will show photographs of them on the Reception Class Gallery! Mrs Crank and the Reception children are working with Mrs Wyper and her Year One Children to achieve a Royal Horticultural Society Gardening Award - so far they have achieved Level 1 - well done!!
