Year 2 – Junior school transition morning
Your child will be bringing home a letter today regarding a visit to the junior school on Wednesday 19th May. There are a number of children who will be taking part in a football tournament on this day and they will be making their visit to the junior school on the Tuesday instead.
If you have any queries at all about the visits please speak to Mrs Hughes.
The junior school are hosting their open evening to new parents on Thursday 10th June.
Football tournament
Our football team will be taking part in an interschool tournament on the 19th May. Parents of the ‘team’ are welcome to come along to the Sports Village to give their support. A letter will be sent home with details. Good luck to the team!
New Parents Evening
Our new parents evening will be held on Tuesday 11th May starting at 7pm. If you have a child starting in September please come along.
Headlice – please be extra vigilant for headlice as we have had a couple of reported cases. Please check with your pharmacist regarding treatment. Some pharmacists will be able to prescribe medicines to treat this condition without charge. If you require any information please see Mrs Hughes.

Non-Uniform Day
The last day of this half term (Friday 28th May) will be a non-uniform day. We are asking for donations towards our summer fair. Items for our tombola such as wine, unused toiletry sets, new toys and other new items. Other items we would appreciate are new cuddly toys and any other types of new unused gifts. Many thanks for your support.

Summer Fair
Our summer fair will be here before we know it! Our Friends of St John’s will be meeting each Tuesday morning after the half term at 9am to plan and organise the summer fair. All parents, carers and grandparents are welcome.
Please keep collecting vouchers. Many thanks to everyone who has sent in vouchers so far. We are doing really well.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2010
Please save vouchers when you shop at Sainsbury’s. A collection box is near the front entrance for your donations. We can exchange the vouchers for new P.E. equipment.

Tesco for Schools
Please collect vouchers and place in collection box near the front entrance. We will exchange vouchers for ICT equipment.

Flora Our school is registered on line to collect the tokens from Flora products. Please help us to collect points to exchange for cooking equipment. You need to register a code online from the instructions on packs of Flora. Visit www.cookingwithschools.com

DON’T FORGET OUR…….
Photography competition
Thank you for your entries so far. We have had some lovely photos. You can take a picture of any type of wildlife or green space (even your garden!). Please bring photographs into school in a clearly marked envelope by Friday 28th May and give to your child’s class teacher. Eco prizes to be won!
There will be 3 categories. With 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each.

Bee Keeping Trust – the beekeeper who visited Earth Day has informed us of an open day they are holding as part of National Insect Week. It will take place on Sunday 27th June at Fir Tree Farm, King’s Moss, St Helens.
Asda and Aldi now recycle batteries.
Our Earth Day display is now up near the front entrance.
